Accu-Sort® Systems has added a comprehensive data management and system maintenance tool to its suite of Flexible Automation Solutions Tools. Called FASTComm, it allows operators to configure, monitor and maintain databases, reporting and other processing activities.

FASTComm can be combined with other Accu-Sort FAST products to integrate data management into material handling systems for labeling, sortation, shipping, tote routing and other functions. Integration with host systems is achieved through processing of data shared with the host database. Key features include OBDC connectivity for reading directly from the Accu-Sort or remote customer database, TCP/IP file transfer protocol (FTP) provisions for both client to remote server and server to remote client, datastream protocols and RS232/422 serial data exchange.

Typical data processing includes product table definitions, inventory transactions and production/shipping processing results. In addition, the configurability of FASTComm allows scheduling of system events and processes, including database table and file cleanups, automatic shift and end-of-day changes across processes in the FAST suite, and automatic report generation.

FASTComm features an easy-to-use graphical interface. Timed events can be set at specified intervals or at specific times of the day, such as shift changes and end of day. Also configurable are data elements, including name, description, format and delimiters. The program runs on Windows NT®/Windows® 2000 for seamless enterprise integration.
